Voices from Appalachia Radio Show
Premise and Objectives:
The Appalachian Radio Show (ARS), produced by the Center for Appalachian Studies an Communities, will be a weekly event that features local news, arts, cultural events, and happenings in the state, region, and country as well as events associated with the Appalachian Studies Curricular Program, 海角社区 University Center for Appalachian Studies and Communities, George Tyler Moore Civil War Center, 海角社区 University Environmental Studies, Robert C. Bryd Center for Congressional History & Education, and Life Long Learning at 海角社区 University.聽 The Appalachian Radio Show will also feature some of the best 海角社区 student projects from associated APST classes and curricular partners (History, Environmental Studies, Leisure Studies, Business and Entrepreneurship), though these radio segments will not be limited to student presentations only.聽 Likewise, student presentations must meet a high standard in order to become part of the broadcast series, and they must be universal throughout the program.
Appalachian Radio Show Objectives:
- Increase an awareness and understanding of the region, its history, culture, and traditions;
- Promote community service and student engagement;
- Promote awareness of economic and environmental responsibility in Appalachia;
- Share projects and programs from the APST and Byrd CHE Archives;
- Share projects and programs featuring our students, leaders in the community, and educational leaders.
